Activities - Beauty that comes from happiness

The Beauty that comes from Happiness

“A Joyful heart brightens one’s face, but a troubled heart breaks the spirit.”         Proverbs 15.13

This lesson is very simple… for us to have this happiness; we need to “fill” ourselves with the Holy Spirit.

Now, you may see bellow some ideas for visual resources:

It’s amazing how we can play with those little dolls that are very easy to make…
It’s simple, but it catches the attention of our little ones!
As we tell them the story, we show the dolls!
And for sure, it will stay in their minds. ;-)

A song about the Wonderful fishing!

Still for this week a song about the Wonderful fishing!
Sing along with the video below...

Peter, James and John in a sailboat,
Peter, James and John in a sailboat,
Peter, James and John in a sailboat,
Out on the deep blue sea.

Fished all night and they caught no fishes,
Fished all night and they caught no fishes,
Fished all night and they caught no fishes,
Out on the deep blue sea.

Christ came walking down by the water,
Christ came walking down by the water,
Christ came walking down by the water,
Out on the deep blue sea.

Now their nets are full and breaking,
Now their nets are full and breaking,
Now their nets are full and breaking,
Out on the deep blue sea.

Called their friends to come and help them,
Called their friends to come and help them,
Called their friends to come and help them,
Out on the deep blue sea.

Out on the deep blue, Out on the deep blue,
Out on the deep blue ... SEA!

Class: 2-3 year olds

BIBLICAL REFERENCE
Proverbs 15.13

PURPOSE OF THE LESSON
Teach the children that when someone is happy, they are more beautiful.

VERSE TO MEMORIZE
“A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance.” (Proverbs 15.13)

INTRODUCTION
Take a picture (from a magazine or newspaper) of a baby crying and one smiling. Get also a picture of fat person, slim, tall, black, white, straight hair, curly hair (these illustrations will be used in the story). Start now by showing the picture and ask: Which of these two children are sad? (Wait for their participation.) The crying child isn’t it? We know that the child is sad because he's crying. Just by looking at people we can tell if they are sad. In today's story we meet a girl who lived very sad. Let’s hear the story!

RACHEL WAS a very pretty girl. Her hair was pretty also and curly. But she was sad because she wanted straight hair, like her friend Lauren. And so Rachel always had that sad expression in her face. Do you know why? When our heart is sad it shows in our face too!
One day Lauren saw that Rachel was sad and asked, "Why are you sad? She replied saying that she wanted to have straight hair. Lorraine explained that people are different; some are tall, others small etc, some have curly hair, other straight hair and so on. No one is the same but we are all special to God! When she heard that, Rachel was very happy and was never sad again about her looks.

FUN CHAT
Children, a person becomes more beautiful when she has a happy heart. Many people have a sad expression in their face because their heart is sad too. Did you know that Jesus loves us just the way we are? Lets rejoice! Who here loves Jesus say amen with joy!

ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY
Lauren taught Rachel that when we are happy inside, we look prettier.
Modeling. Divide modeling dough through the children and ask for them to do Rachel’s story. Interact with them too then make a presentation on the table for everyone to see the modeling work they did.
WEDNESDAY
Game. Take black cardboard to the class (or a dark one) and write on it: Person With A Sad Heart, and on a yellow card (or white) person write: Person with a joyful heart. Also bring several illustrations (pictures from magazines or newspapers) people happy and sad. We suggest you bring double quantity of illustration according to the number of children you usually have in class. Stick tape behind the illustrations. Arrange chairs in a circle, place the artwork and the cards in the middle of the circle and start saying: Today we learned that a person is more beautiful and happy when her heart is also happy and that a sad heart makes a person look less beautiful. Educator, follow the order of the circle and ask a child at a time, to choose a picture and paste it on the poster that corresponds to it, and illustrations of sad people where it is written “Person with a sad heart”. Praise them when they do well and give a second chance to those who didn’t. Continue until all the pictures are attached.

 Class: 4-7 year olds

BIBLICAL REFERENCE
Proverbs 15.13

PURPOSE OF THE LESSON
Teach the children that when someone is happy, they are more beautiful.

VERSE TO MEMORIZE
“A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance.” (Proverbs 15.13)

INTRODUCTION
By this time you will need a photo (from magazines) of a person with a happy face and one with a sad face. Paste the pictures on the blackboard or on the wall and say: 'In your opinion, how is this person feeling? Are they happy or sad? (Wait for their participation.) You will probably say they are happy and the other sad. Ask: How did you come to this conclusion? Through the face you could see what he was feeling isn’t it? Today we will hear a story where we will see why a person has a sad face. Let’s listen to the story!

THERE WAS a girl named Rachel, who lived with her parents, sister and brother. The girl was a dancer and participated in many activities and loved sports.  Rachel was beautiful and her hair was full of curls. Despite her being beautiful, many times her sadness hide her beauty. She was kind and polite, and Raquel had many friends. The only problem was that she was angry and sad about everything, and she was always crying. If anyone passing her by did not say hello or if she missed a step in the ballet class, then she would become sad.
One day Anita, Rachel’s friend, tried to find out what was making her so sad. Rachel told her she felt that way because she did not like her curly hair, and also had received a low grade on a test she had and her mother was not happy about it... Anita then decided to teach her something very important. She told Rachel that she should study more and pray for God's wisdom, because that way she would get better grades. She also said that Jesus loves her just the way she is, and told her that if she makes Jesus her best friend, then He would take all her sadness away. She also told her:
- I also used to be very sad, but at the CBC I learned the true happiness that comes from Jesus, because he        is my best friend and         I know he's always with me. From that moment, Rachel wanted to have the same joy in her heart and answered saying: "I want to go with you to the CBC. And the next day, Anita and her mother took Rachel to the church and the girl was very happy to hear more about the things of God.

CONCLUSION
We learned today that the person becomes much more beautiful when you have the joy of Jesus in your heart, but when you are sad inside, it shows in your face and your beauty disappears. Who here is very happy with Jesus?

FUN CHAT
Write the verse of the week on the board before the class begins. If you do not have a board, write parts of it on sheets of paper and stick them to a table (so the class may read it) and do not forget to write the Bible reference. Take to the class illustrations or pictures (magazines) of beggars asking for money, sick people, children playing happily, family gathered for lunch, people laughing and a child playing with its pet.
Stick (in the order that is above) each illustration or photo on a sheet of paper. Give a title to each illustration, for example: Beggars asking for coins. Then staple the sheets in the same order, etc
Start by saying: Children, today I brought you some pictures and illustrations to show you. Educator, display the pictures and read the title of the first sheet. Observe the reaction of children. Go to the other sheet and do the same.
On the sheets where the children are playing happily, read the title with a cheerful expression and the do the same with the following sheets. Note that the children change their reaction and their faces will be happy too. Then conclude by saying: Kids, I have observed that during the presentation of the photos, many showed a serious face, and sad sometimes when I showed you the pictures. But when I showed you the pictures of happy people you also looked happy. Do you know why that happened? (Wait for their participation.) Because without realizing we show in our faces if we are happy or sad about something, as it says in this week's verse: "A cheerful heart beautifies the face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken." (Proverbs 15.13)
Little friends, we must ask God to put joy in our hearts every day, because he gets very happy when he sees his children happy. Now we are going to memorize the verse of the week. Educator, memorize the verse of the week as follows:
1. Read the verse of the week (the one that you have written on the sheet), explaining the difficult words and the meaning of the verse. 2. Ask them to close their eyes, (if it is written on the blackboard or on the
sheets), remove some words from the verse and get them to complete the missing words. Repeat the verse again with the class.

ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY
Poster. For this activity, you will need some magazines and newspapers, scissors, glue and cardboard. Write as title on the cardboard: Happy People. Ask the kids to choose photos of people smiling in various situations, such as a family, children playing, people in the church, parties etc. Educators, after this, cut the selected photos and ask to the kids to glue them on the poster. Once the poster is ready, talk to the class about why people look sad or happy, stressing that what beautifies their faces is the joy that only Jesus can give.
Free drawing. Distribute sheets of paper and ask them to draw what are the things that make them happy. At the end of the activity, ask them to explain the drawing they made.

Class: 8-10 year olds

BIBLICAL REFERENCE
Proverbs 15.13

PURPOSE OF THE LESSON

Are they happy or sad? (Wait for their participation.) You will probably say they are happy and the other sad. Ask: How did you come to this conclusion? Was it through their face? Today we will learn how we can tell if a person is happy or sad, listen to the story carefully.

RACHEL was a very beautiful girl, with long hair and full of curls. But her beauty was hidden behind her sad face. She lived in a big house with her sister and brother. Sometimes, things would get very hectic for Rachel, as she had many tasks such as studying, playing sports, helping at home and ballet. Who here gets very busy also? Raise your hand!
She was a good kid, polite and friendly, but always sad. Everything was a reason for her to feel sad and angry. If a school friend did not greet her or if she didn’t do well on her ballet classes, she would become sad. When Rachel asked something to her mom and it took a while to be served, the child cried nonstop and remained sad all day. One day Rachel was in her ballet class and at the end of class, Anne, her friend, sat beside her and asked:
- Rachel, I've noticed that you always look sad, and today you really look worse than other days. Why is that?
- Ah! I have so many reasons: My grades in math are low, my mother challenged me and I wanted to look different… I do not like my curly hair.
- Rachel, you are important and special to Jesus just the way you are. He loves you and wants you to be free from this sadness you have.
- But, Anne, everything makes me sad…. Rachel replied
- First, if you study harder and ask God for wisdom, then your grades will improve and your mother will not be angry with you anymore. I was also sad, but I learned in the CBC that Jesus is my best friend and that He is always by my side and who loves me the way I am, then I have no reason to feel sad!
At that time, Anne was teaching something very important to Rachel. Do you know what happened? Rachel also said that she wanted to have Jesus in her heart, and would like to go to the CBC too. The next day, they met and went together to the church. From that day on, Rachel and her entire family accepted Jesus and she became a happy girl.
In the book of Proverbs it is written that when you have a cheerful heart, it shows in your face, but when the heart is sad, the person also looks sad. Like Rachel, many people have a sad heart, but when you have Jesus inside you, then everyone can see the joy in your face. Who wants the joy of Jesus in your heart raise your hands. Amen!

ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY
Free drawing. Distribute sheets of paper and ask them to draw what are the things that make them happy. At the end of the activity, ask them to explain the drawing.
Happy Potato. Draw a happy face on a potato and take it to the class. Start by saying: Today we learned that when we are happy, our face looks more beautiful and that sadness leaves a person looking miserable. So we must not become sad, because Jesus lives in our hearts, and He is the reason for our joy. Do you understand? Educators make a circle with the children and then place a music CD. While the music is playing, the Potato must be passed from hand to hand. Stop the music suddenly, and the child who is holding the potato at that instant must leave the game.

FRIDAY
Here, you will see a variety of visual materials to help you with the lesson.

Above, you can see the verse Proverbs.30:5 written on the fish…

Bellow, you can make a little fish with a piece of sponge and a small stick and use it to play as if the kids could be “fishing” good attitudes, or a verse of the Bible, they can fish whatever is good before God!

As you can see above, you may use that beautiful scenery to explore the kids’ imagination… And a nice little glove which can be used with the babies…
Bellow… more detailed sceneries…

TFT meeting 8

8th Meeting

Biblical Reference:
Psalm 25.12 and John 3.3-15

Purpose of the meeting:
Teach teenagers that we must walk in the ways of God for our own good.

Key verse:
“…show me the way I should go…” (Psalm 143.8)

Initiating the meeting:

Take to the class the pictures of a traffic jam and a clear road. Start by showing both pictures and say: ‘observe the difference between these pictures. Obviously a driver, after a day of work, would choose to pass by this street (show the picture of the clear road) and never this one (show the picture of traffic jam), right? But many don’t have a choice and are obligated to spend hours in congestion because they don’t have another way. Today's message will talk about two ways of which we must choose one. (Begin the message)

Message that edify:

A new path (Part 2)

When we are kids we hear the following question: ‘what will you be when you grow up? Doctor, teacher, lawyer…’ Each one has a dream but it’s necessary to study a lot. Just like students who long to be ahead in their academic life, so the person who wishes to develop in faith should work towards their spiritual goal. That's what Zacchaeus did, the tax collector mentioned in the previous meeting.
By accepting Jesus, the person must be aware that they need to change direction, in other words, a new path, with different attitudes
To belong to the family of God, to be considered His children and have the right to eternal life; one must be born of God. It is not enough simply to know about Jesus and what He can do but accept it in fact and truth, abandon sin, be baptized in water and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The bible mentions about the encounter of Jesus with Nicodemus. He was an educated man, knowledgeable about the law of God, but did not understand the things of the Spirit.
How many teenagers, who were born inside the Church or they are in the Church since kids, know the Word of God but never absorbed the will of the Holy Spirit for their lives. Because of that, they live divided between the things of God and the things from the world; elicit thoughts, lies, robbery, fights, etc. God does not force anyone to be His child, but those wishing to be part of His family, must be born again, for the kingdom of God is spiritual and in no way someone with carnal nature can enter His kingdom. Nicodemus did not understand what Jesus said to him, because he was a man of earthly nature, natural, and never understand the things of the spirit. “The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them…” (1 Corinthians 2.14).  We must live in Spirit so we remain until the end.

Conclusion:

For love, Jesus sacrificed himself to save mankind, but is necessary for people to leave sin to become true children of God and attain eternal Salvation. When we decide to follow Him, then what is written in this verse happens: “…who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.” (Psalm 25.12).

Activity of the 8ยบ Meeting

Answer

1- Do you have difficulty staying on the path of God?

2- In your opinion what is necessary for spiritual development?

3- What do you understand about walking a new path?

4- Explain what you understand about the verse: “…who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.” (Psalm 25.12).
