Class: 2-3 year olds

BIBLICAL REFERENCE
Proverbs 24.17

PURPOSE OF THE LESSON
Teach the kids that we shouldn’t be happy when someone suffers

VERSE TO MEMORISE
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles;”

INTRODUCTION
Start by asking: Who here has already seen someone falling down? What was your reaction? (Wait for their participation). Each person has a different reaction ... isn’t it? Some laugh, others feel sorry, others rush to help, and there are those who don’t notice anything. In today's story we are going to learn that we should never be happy when someone gets hurt. Let’s listen to the story?

STORY
Luke was a very naughty boy who was always laughing at his friends and he also liked to criticize them. He used to mock his friends and was evil towards them too. What an ugly thing to do isn’t it? (Make a face of disapproval).
Luke liked playing with his friends in a park near his house. The park was fun, there was a slide, swings, seesaws and that park was surrounded by many trees (show pictures).
One day, Luke and his friends were playing, when suddenly, Hugo, who was playing on the swing, fell on the floor.  Do you know what happened next? Hugo began to cry while Luke laughed at him. What an ugly thing to do!
When Luke's mother saw that, she told that we should never laugh at the sadness of others. From that day on, Luke learned a lesson and stopped laughing at the suffering of his friends.

CONCLUSION
Children, we must not be happy with the sadness of others and when something bad happens to someone we must be quick to help. This way, we will please our God, who is in heaven.

ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY
Free drawing. Distribute sheets of paper and crayons
and ask the kids to draw something to do with the story.
WEDNESDAY
Being the characters of the story. Give out some molding dough for the children and ask for them to do Luke and Hugo. Educator, interact with them while they are doing the characters, make yours too, do not worry about perfection, leave them free to create.
Class: 4-7 year olds

STORY
LUKE was a lively boy. Luke's class had a student named Hugo, a good kid who was friends with everyone. One day, Luke arrived at school and began to upset Hugo. When he arrived home, Hugo told his father what had happened. Next morning, Hugo and his friends received their exam’s results and Hugo was very happy when he saw that he had answered all the questions correctly and had received a good grade but Luke did not do as well as his him.
Do you know what happened? Hugo was happy with what had happened with Luke and went home happily. When he arrived home, the boy told his father what had happened to Luke.
Hugo's dad then explained to him that he was acting wrongly, that even though Luke had been bad to him in the past, he should forgive and not be happy with his failures. Then Hugo asked:
- Dad, what should I do?
My son, you must ask God for help. Luke occasionally behaves wrongly because he doesn’t know Jesus, said his father…
After that conversation, the boy realized that he was acting wrongly and decided to apologize to him and even invited him to go to CBC with him. Luke loved taking part and enjoyed what he had learned there.

CONCLUSION
Friends, is written in the Bible: "when your enemy falls, do not rejoice.” This means that we should not rejoice in the sorrow of others, when something bad happens to them, but if you help them, then you will be doing God’s will.

FUN CHAT
Bring to class a handkerchief. Make a circle with the children and put one of them in the middle of the circle and give him/her the handkerchief. Start by saying the following: Children, this handkerchief represents someone and when it’s lifted up, let’s pretend that this someone is happy and all is doing well for him; but when it’s thrown on the floor, it will mean the opposite. So, when it’s up, let’s laugh and clap our hands with joy but when it’s down, we must stop laughing. Ok?
Repeat the game a few more times and then conclude by saying: Just as we stop laughing when this handkerchief falls on the ground, so must we do when we see someone sad. Educator end by making a few questions: 1. What is your opinion regarding Luke’s behavior? 2. What do you think about Hugo talking to his father about what has happened? 3. If you were Hugo, how would you act? 4. Have you already gone through a similar situation like Hugo’s? What happened? 5. What have you understood about          this week’s Bible verse? Conclude by inviting the children to pray for their friends.

ACTIVITIES
SUNDAY
Special invitation. Make an invitation card to invite a friend to the CBC.
Free drawing. Distribute sheets of paper and ask the kids to draw this week’s story.
Recalling the story. Educator, get the children to sit on a semicircle and start the game by telling the story of the week. The kid besides you, will continue the story and so on.
Playing with the verse. For this game you need a handkerchief. Form a circle with the class. You must choose a kid and blindfold him with a handkerchief. Ask the children to move the circle (they must be standing). Then the child who is blindfolded should say the Bible verse of the week and point to someone in the circle who should also say that verse, then the child in the middle should hug the one who read the verse. And the child who received the hug should now stay in the middle of the circle and carry on the game.

Mount Sinai part 2

The Journey to Mount Sinai Continues!

Lesson from Sunday the 20th up until Saturday the 26th

How good it is to belong to God!

Last week we talked about the important task God had given to Moses. Do you want to know what happened? So keep listening!

Even though he was not welcome in Egypt, Moses went back there to talk to Pharaoh. He had a message from God to the king of Egypt, God said, "Let my people go!" - They are not supposed to be slaves in Egypt, but free servants of the living and eternal God!

But do you think Pharaoh believed Moses? Nope! Pharaoh said, "I do not know God, I do not believe him, and I absolutely will NOT let this people go!

Humpf! This Pharaoh was very hard hearted for the things of God, but God had a plan. He had given Moses a powerful rod, through which His signs would be manifested. The land of Egypt would be afflicted by 10 terrible plagues, one after the other. But the small village of Goshen, in which the Hebrews (people of God) lived was not affected one bit!

Every time one of the plagues struck Egypt, Pharaoh considered giving ears to God and his servant Moses, but as each plague passed, he quickly changed his mind. Very stubborn this guy! The plagues did not come to destroy Egypt, but to show a little sign of God's Power. To show that there is a difference between those who serve Him and those who do not. Those who are on God's side are safe.

The 10th plague was proven too much for Pharaoh. When all of firstborns (from people and animals) died - except of course for those from Goshen. Pharaoh and the whole Egypt cried in anguish, and he finally let the people go.

Just as God had promised, the Egyptian neighbours gave many gifts of food, clothes and jewelry for the people of God, as they left that land. However, it was not long until Pharaoh changed his mind - again! - and decided to capture and bring the people of God back to slavery.

A very fierce pursuit began, Pharaoh and his army were determined to get to the people, and the people ran as fast as they could, until they got to a point of no return. In front of them, it was the Red Sea, and behind, a very angry Pharaoh and his army. "What do we do now? There is no place to run and the army is fast approaching." People began to despair and Moses cried out to God.

But God was very calm, He is Greater than any problem we may face. He told Moses, "Why do you cry out to me? Tell the people to march on! Raise you hands and touch the waters with the rod I gave you, and the people will pass through the sea in dry land".

Guess what? That is exactly what happened! God never fails. The majestic sea opened up and all the people of God crossed over to the other side. Pharaoh and his army could not believe what they saw. Another sign that God is very powerful to save His people. And yet, Pharaoh refused to let them go free and commanded his army: "Go after them!"

They started for the open sea, and as they got on the middle of the way, the last of the Hebrews got to the other side. So the sea closed down again, the waves came crashing down on them, Pharaoh and his army drowned and perished right there.

And that is how the people of God had been set free form slavery in Egypt and were now going to a wonderful land that God had prepared for them.

Important points to explore:

  • There must be a distinction between the people who give ears to God and do His will and those who do not.
  • God never fails! If He promises, He will do. Everything He says is true, and be do well by listening to His instructions and obeying His voice.
  • God cares for and protects those who are on His side. How good it is to belong to God and receive His amazing love.

Suggested Activity:

The activity below will help the children to identify the 10 plagues. Be careful about the way you talk about the plagues. They did not come to destroy, only to serve as a sign that something was very, very wrong.

The plagues were, in fact, a way God found to show Pharaoh he was behaving badly, he had the chance to fix what he was doing wrong. But when we resist the voice of God, we bring trouble upon ourselves!

Tell us the 10 plagues by colouring the button next to
the correct answers (can be done orally)

1ST PLAGUE
The waters of the Nile become blood.
Children were not allowed to go out for break
.

2ND PLAGUE

The Egyptians had al the shoes taken away

7TH PLAGUE
Giant balls of ice, known as hail, crash down to earth from the sky.
It rained for 40 days and 40 nights.

8TH PLAGUE
They were feed to the lions in the lions den.
Locusts destroy Egypt's crops, leaving them very little to eat.

9TH PLAGUE

All the Egyptian people turned into statues of salt

Take off you sandals

Take your sandals off!

This was God's command to Moses, and he obeyed without questioning!
And so did the CBC in Finsbury Park. Look how nice sandals they made!

They are really pretty, but that does not mean we are keeping it on. Let's all take off our sandals and come closer to God

Well done CBC Finsbury Park!

CBC Luton

Testimony from CBC Luton

Moses on Sinai by CBC Luton
Hello Mrs Elisa,

My name is Assistant Stacey from Luton, and I wanted to share with you all what we did on Sunday. Whilst the lesson was followed, we saw that the children knew the whole story of Moses, and yet some still did not believe that it could be applied to their own lives. So I shared my story with them (at first, I did not say it was me), in a very captivating way.

Afterwards they were soo excited to find out who that little girl was. I said ok children, shhh... I will share this with you, but before she comes out you must close your eyes. When they opened their eyes I had the back of a picture frame facing them, and then I turned it around and they saw me. It was clear that a practical example helped them to understand a lot more.

Stacey in her graduation day
Even the younger ones are catching the spirit, a parent came into the CBC later that day and told me that her daughter came running to her saying "mummy, mummy, next Sunday (the 20th) is our special day." I asked the little girl what she was going to do on the 20th and she answered: "We are gonna take our sandals off and not put them back on!" I asked, "but what are your sandals?" and she explained that it is all the bad things...

These last two weeks have been a blessing, and the lessons have even helped us Biblical Educators too. I believe that this will produce a change and many CBC children will go into the new year transformed by the grace of God.

God Bless you all,

with Love

Staceyxx

Important note to all

Stacey noticed that some of the older children did not see how the story of Moses could be applied to their lives. This is a very serious issue not to be taken lightly! It happens a lot, and we are caught off guard when those children - or teens - that have been in Church all their lives suddenly don't believe a word we say.

As children grow and start distinguishing fantasy from reality, they begin to question the Bible stories we tell then on CBC.This is a seed of the devil to make them doubt the Word of God, or belive it is just a fairy tale.

That is why we must transmit the faith always, not only the story,  and show them - in a practical and simple way - how to apply the Word of God in our daily lives.

That is what Stacey did, showing her classroom that the same God that delivered Israel from captivity also delivered her from her troubles and helped her to fulfill her dreams.

May our work be for His glory!

Mont Sinai part 1

The journey to Mount Sinai has begun

GOD SAW, HEARD AND CAME DOWN

Lessons starts on the 13th of Nov up to the 19th of Nov

For over 430 years, the people of Israel have been kept as slaves on Egypt, subject to hardships, misery and pain on the hands of people that did not know the God of Israel, nor did they respected Him.

The people cried out to God, and God SAW their affliction, HEARD their cry and CAME DOWN in order to rescue them from their troubles.

But who would God use in order to tell Pharaoh to let His people go? They were not supposed to be slaves, but a free, blessed and rich nation! Who would be bold enough to speak God's message to the mighty and cruel Pharaoh?

Moses did not know it yet, but he was the chosen one for this important task.

He was tending his sheep on the desert very close to Mount Sinai. Suddenly, he looked up and saw something really amazing! It was a bush on fire, but the bush did not burn up! What are the odds? "That is something really intriguing, I will go up there and see this wonderful sight. Why is it the bush does not burn up and turns into ashes?", he thought to himself.

So up he went, and as he got closer to the burning bush, God spoke to him:

"Moses, Moses. Take off your sandals, for the place you stand is Holy ground". Moses obeyed immediately!

God called him up the Sinai, showed His power and sent him on a very important mission: to deliver His people from Egypt, so they could all live happily in a new land, where there was plenty of milk and honey. Yummy!

God also promised that once they left Egypt, their neighbours would give them many gifts, like silver and gold jewelry, as well as clothes.

Important points to explore:

  • When we cry out to God, He sees, hears and comes down. He is there for us whenever we need Him
  • God has very important tasks for each one of us: to obey our parents, to respect people, to be nice to others, to talk about Jesus to our friends, to pray for those who are in need... Will you listen and do what He is asking of you?
  • Take off you sandals, everything that impedes you from  being the child God wants you to be. Lies, anger, disobedience, dishonesty, bad behavior, laziness, bad thoughts, etc.
