Introduction
Start by asking: Who has already displeased someone just so you could please God? (Wait for their participation). Today we will learn about three young man that to please God had to displease a very important king. Let’s see what happened…
PROTECTED IN THE BURNER
One day a king named Nebuchadnezzar decided to make a golden image to be worshiped throughout his kingdom. In the Word of God it is written that we must worship only God, and that King was doing something very wrong, isn’t it? But his craziness didn’t stop him there. Do you know what would happen to those who refuse to kneel before the statue he built? Would be throw them into a large stove of fire! People would die burned if they don’t worship that god.
When the image was ready, Nebuchadnezzar built a statue of gold in a field where everyone could see it, met the important people in that place, governors, judges, etc., And gave the following order: - Everyone who heard the sound of the trumpet, the harp and other instruments, all should worship the golden image, and who fails to do so will be taken to the stove of fire.
There were three Jews who lived there, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were servants of the living God and didn’t obey the order of Nebuchadnezzar the king. The others residents, listening to the sounds of instruments, fell down and worshiped the image created by the king, but these three young Jews remained in the faith that they should worship just God.
When the king found out that those youths had disobeyed his orders, he ordered for the instruments to be played again and said to Sedrac, Meshach and Abednego to worship the image, if not they would be sent to the great burning stove. Do you know what the three young men did? (Wait for their participation.) Remained confident that God would deliver them from that situation and said to the king: “If it’s our God’s will, He will deliver us, but we don’t serve or worship any other god”.
Little friends, the king was furious and ordered to increase the fire seven times stronger. Then some men from the army of Nebuchadnezzar took the three young men and threw them inside the stove and everyone was watching… It was then that something wonderful happened. When the king looked inside of the stove, he saw that they were dancing happily in the company of another man, and that nothing bad had happened. Do you know who the fourth man was? It was the Angel of God, who was sent to the stove to save them. How wonderful! Nebuchadnezzar commanded to bring them out of the stove and determine that, from that day on, the people would only worship the God of Sedrac, Meshach and Abednego, the true God.
Conclusion
Did you see, how good it is to be obedient? We must always walk in obedience to our parents, teachers and the older people. It is by obeying God that He honors us. Do you understand?
Fun Chat
Take to the class the illustration of various toys, bikes, dolls, remote car control, PlayStation, computers, etc. Paste the pictures on a cardboard. Write as poster title: "What do you have to do to earn these gifts? Write on papers: "lie", “would take the toy friend”, "do only what pleases God." Start now by asking a child to hold the poster. Educator, ask the questions and listen and to answers. Then show the written paper "lie" and say: Do you lie to win these gifts? (Aim for the toys poster).
Do the same with the other papers and wait for their participation. Then say: We learned today through the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abednego that we must always do God’s will and that He also will protect us as a result.
Will you be faithful like the young men in the story? (Wait for their participation). Educator, make a prayer asking God to deliver them from the troubles (problems), family illnesses, bad companies at school, etc.
Sunday
Activities
Debating the story
Write the name of all children in bits of paper, fold them and place them inside a plastic bag. Get them all to sit in a circle and ask for a child to take three names from the bag. The names taken should comment on: what did you think about the attitude of Sedrac, Meshach and Abednego? If you were living in that time, how would you react? Have you pleased God and do His will? Give an example of how we displease God.
Game: Right or Wrong
You will need white cardboard, tape, scissors, marker and soda straws. Cut the cardboard into pieces of 15cmx15cm. You need eight cards (flags). Write "NO" in the middle of the flags and "YES" on the other side. With tape, stick the straw in the cardboard. Take the flags ready for class.
Start the game by dividing the class into four groups. Give a flag "YES" and a "NO" for each group. Ask each team to choose two group leaders to support their group. Now tell the class that you are going to say a few sentences and, according to what you say, the leaders of each group (the ones holding the flag) should lift it to answer.
Educator start the game by saying a few words (see below), you can create others as well. The group who answers most correctly will win.
1. Obey parents 2. Swearing 3. Helping others 4. Disobeying parents. 5. Read the Bible
6. Being faithful to God 7. No helping at home 8. Not studying 9. Praise God
