Teach the kids that God protects those who trust Him.
VERSE TO MEMORIZE
For the LORD gives Wisdom, out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)
INTRODUCTION
Start by saying this after school, the teacher always gives
a test to see if we really learned everything that was taught ... isn’t it kids?
Who in here gets good marks in their tests? Okay, that shows that you have been
studying.
In today's story we see someone who asked God for something
but didn’t know if he had received it or not. And guess what happened? He was
tested and only then had the certainty of having received what he asked. Do you
want to know who the story is talking about? Then pay attention. "
SOLOMON’S WISDOM
Soon after asking God for wisdom, Solomon stood before a
very difficult situation. One day, he sat on his throne when he was called to
solve a big problem between two women.
"What have those two women done? One of them had just
given birth to a baby, and after three days the second woman had a baby too.
The two lived together alone in their house. One night, the second woman, accidentally slept on her baby and the baby died. When she realized that her son
was dead, without the other noticing, she went to the other woman’s bed and
changed the babies, taking the one that was alive for her. But what a terrible
thing to do!
When the first woman awoke at dawn to nurse her son, she realized
the baby was dead and that it wasn’t her son. The two women began to argue with
each other saying: "The baby that is alive is mine and the dead one is
yours." And the second woman said: "Dead is your son, mine is
alive." As the two women discussed, Solomon had a great idea, it seems
like a crazy idea, but he had to be sure whether or not God gave him wisdom. Solomon
asked that someone bring him a sword so that he could split the baby in the
middle so each would get a part. When the baby's real mother heard the king's
command, her maternal love spoke louder and she said, "My lord, I prefer
to give the living child to the other, please do not kill him." The other
one said:
"Not mine, not yours, the child must be divided."
The attitude of the second women showed that King Solomon discovered the true
mother, as she preferred to see the child with the other woman rather than see
him dead. What a brilliant idea King Solomon had ... isn’t it kids? Solomon
ordered that the child was delivered to the first mother, who really was the
baby's mother.
CONCLUSION
Did you see the great intelligence God gave to Solomon? All
the people of Israel heard of the decision that the king had made about the
women, and had great respect for him because they saw it was wisdom that comes
from God.
He also wants to give us wisdom and understanding to know
how to act when we are in trouble at school, with siblings, with friends in the neighborhood, etc., in all situations. But for that we need to ask Him
wholeheartedly. Children, when you don’t know how to resolve a situation, ask
God for wisdom and, surely, He will answer you.
